This publication reviews the process of reducing military equipment in the Dutch armed forces after the Cold War. The authors discuss the reasons for the disposal of surplus weapons, and examine different policies such as donation, destruction, and sales. They conclude that Dutch foreign policy, while trying to promote restraint in arms exports, has shown little hesitation regarding the sale of weapons to tension areas.
