The paper discusses the development history and future prospects of the Eurofighter project. The authors describe how the Eurofighter is the largest military industrial project in Western Europe and how the development of the aircraft carries significant importance for the aerospace and arms industries in the four developing countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Spain. The paper details the high financial costs of the Eurofighter project and the changed European security environment since the end of the Cold War. The authors describe the general consequences of the Eurofighter project and provide a list of plausible alternatives.
