This report describes the scope, nature, and status of the US force withdrawal from Germany after the end of the Cold War. It also examines the post-closure economic and social impacts and redevelopment opportunities for Germany. The report concludes with a set of case studies assessing the specific conversion efforts of the Fulda and Mainz Army Military Communities and Hahn Air Base.
