This paper analyzes the UK’s procurement of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft and how it may be used by the country’s armed forces. According to the author, this US-led acquisition program has had several problems in development and there are concerns about its life-cycle costs. International orders are being affected by both cutbacks in defense budgets by partner countries and concerns about increasing unit costs.
