This paper offers a survey of the Egyptian military's removal of President Mohamed Morsi. First, the author traces the development of the uprising, which culminated in Morsi's removal in July 2013, before turning to an analysis of the economic and financial problems that fueled the country's political crisis. He then goes on to discuss the role of the military in the country. He also examines the likelihood of increased levels of violence. The author concludes by discussing the reactions of several governments to Morsi's removal.
