This issue of the RAD examines President Putin's economic policies since he began his third term in office (May 2012). The first article argues that despite Putin's seeming preoccupation with economic reforms, his true focus remains a familiar one -- i.e., strengthening and consolidating his own power. The second article then focuses on the recent economic slowdown in Russia, which apparently has its roots in domestic structural constraints. Finally, the third article examines Russia’s agricultural sector and concludes that the country is likely to continue exporting its grain and importing its meat.
