This article discusses Belarus' negotiations on accession to the WTO and the impact accession could have on the country. The author argues that accession could have negative consequences, such as decreasing the competitiveness of Belarusian companies and forcing Belarus to carry out a series of market reforms that would reduce the state’s ability to influence the economy.
