This paper talks about algorithms and the world's dependency on them. It says that algorithms are essential and without them transport networks, telephony systems and energy grids would not function. While algorithims are mostly reliable, the failure, breakdown, hacking, or sabotage of algorithms could constitute a major security threat. Therefore, the author suggests that the risks posed by such misuse need to be recognized and that the use of certain algorithms may need to be regulated.
