This brief talks about the successes of the African Union (AU) as well as the difficulties the organization still faces. The author says that despite the AU's successes, especially in peacekeeping missions, the organization still faces resource challenges, as demonstrated by the initial lack of willingness of AU member states to provide troops to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). He also argues that the AU must increase its ability to build productive partnerships with the UN, ECOWAS, and EU member states.
