This report discusses litigation with regard to government surveillance programs and looks at the implications of the Clapper v Amnesty International case of Feb 2013. It examines the doctrine of "standing" and explores how that doctrine formed the basis of the Clapper decision. It concludes with an analysis about how the Supreme Court’s decision could affect future litigation following the revelation of the US government surveillance efforts in May 2013.
