This brief discusses the implications of a hypothetical Russian delivery of modern S-300 air-defense systems to the Syrian government. It highlights concerns about the costs of any military engagement in the Syria conflict – for Russia and the West – and examines the reasons behind Russia’s diplomatic and disinformation activities towards the West.
