This report analyzes the intentions of the Egyptian Armed Forces prior to the removal of President Morsi in July 2013 and looks at the challenges that await Egypt's political and military leaders. The author suggests that the military should focus on national security rather than political matters, while Egypt's interim President and his government should work hard to reinvent democracy and restore the rule of law in the country. She also argues that the international community should focus on helping Egypt move toward democracy rather than scrutinize the intentions of the Armed Forces in removing Morsi.
