This report discusses Russia’s role as G20 chair and expectations for the September G20 summit in St. Petersburg. The author looks at the summit agenda and its key theme of 'growth and jobs' and the question of investments, and argues that this agenda is meant to show that Russia does not belong to the crisis-affected West, but rather to the group of emerging powers. It is also meant to demonstrate the restored effectiveness of President Putin’s political control.
