This report first provides a socio-political snapshot of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in mid-2013 and then concludes that it is still a geopolitically important part of the world. If the area’s outlook remains gloomy, it’s not because its problems can’t be solved. Rather, it’s because past prejudices continue to constrain the ability of the major powers to help solve the problems that exist.
