This commentary discusses efforts by Ukraine to diversify its gas supply routes. It looks at the country’s national energy strategy to increase domestic gas production and intensify cooperation with Western energy companies to reduce Russian gas imports by 2030. It concludes, however, that the pursued gas policies and initiatives seem to be little more than political instruments played by the Ukrainian government.
