This paper examines the impact of Sweden's nuclear non-proliferation education programs in former Soviet states and the extent of coordination in non-proliferation activities with Russia and the Ukraine. It discusses the objectives and success of these programs in establishing measures for the control and protection of nuclear materials and facilities in these states and outlines some measures to further educate Russian and Ukrainian scholars and scientists in the risks of nuclear proliferation and trafficking. It concludes that the EU should resume its non-proliferation support to Russia in order to strengthen these developments.
