This paper shows how carbon maps can help prove that biofuels reduce carbon emissions. The author calculates carbon maps for Kalimantan and Sumatra in Indonesia and shows possible emission savings were some areas to be converted to produce feedstock for palm biodiesel. In concluding, the author argues that carbon maps should be the basis for sustainable land use planning.
