This brief discusses Myanmar's interest in nuclear technology, its ties to North Korea, and the position of the US and others on these seemingly interconnected facts. The brief admits that concerns over Yangon's nuclear interests eased somewhat after President Thein Sein took office in March 2011, but it further argues that it will take time, and a broader engagement on the part of outside actors, before Myanmar fully cooperates on nonproliferation issues and completely cuts its ties with North Korea.
