This report examines the possibility of further autonomy for the Kurds in light of new developments in the region including the Syrian conflict, the increasing autonomy of the Kurdish region of Iraq, and the Turkish government pursuing peace with the Kurds within it's borders. The author argues that it is plausible that the Kurds will come out of the present instability with more autonomy but the situation is fraught with danger and further violence is possible. He rejects the possibility of a pan-Kurdish state.
