This paper provides an overview of nuclear security threats and developments across the African continent. Some of the topics covered include international security threats, the threats posed by criminals and terrorists to nuclear security, and sources of radiological material in Africa. The paper concludes with several recommendations for African states aimed to help them develop the necessary legal and regulatory frameworks to prevent nuclear proliferation, trafficking, threats, and disasters.
