This guide provides an overview of the history and nature of suicide operations as terrorist acts in Africa. It discusses the features and targets of suicide attacks, summarizes the history of ad hoc suicide attacks on the continent between 1998 and 2010, and provides an analysis of the people and organizations responsible. The guide concludes with a number of recommendations for policy makers which the authors think could help prevent future attacks.
