This paper analyzes the impact of water scarcity on international security and stability. The author discusses past lessons learned and future options available for preventing international water conflicts and transboundary water disputes. The paper emphasizes the need to establish economically effective and environmentally sound methods of water governance to reduce general conflict potential.
