Nov 2012

This report summarizes the outcomes and discussions from the Southern Africa Women Mediators Seminar (SAWMS) in November 2012 on the role of southern African women in mediation. The discussants argue that women have the potential to be important actors in resolving conflicts, sustaining peace and encouraging development yet they are routinely left out of mediation teams and collaborative policymaking efforts. They recommend greater inclusion of African women as mediators and in peace processes.
