This paper explores technological collaboration between the French and Indian Atomic Energy Commissions during the cold war. The author uses new archival documents to expose how shared opposition to US information censorship and the desire to preserve foreign policy independence fostered nuclear collaboration between the two nations. She also points out that their shared status as non-signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, together with the personal amity between high-ranking scientists, contributed to this nuclear cooperation.
