This bulletin examines the possible scenarios and coalition options that could result from the 2013 national election in Germany. The author argues that the grand coalition between the Christian Democrats and Liberals is unlikely to continue and that the dissolution of the coalition could complicate the allocation of portfolios within the government, about which there is already much uncertainty.
