This report focuses on the roles of third parties in peace negotiations. It defines key concepts, summarizes the most important features of peace negotiations in 2012 and addresses the roles of third parties in dialogues to end violence. The author concludes by emphasizing the importance of clear role allocation in the pre-negotiation process.
