This paper discusses the EU's contributions to conflict resolution initiatives in Indonesia. The author analyzes the impact of EU policy in East Timor and Aceh. The paper states that the European Union's engagement in supporting East Timorese independence after the collapse of Indonesia's dictatorship in 1998 and its efforts to help resolve the situation in Aceh have demonstrated the EU's capability for successfully initiating and implementing conflict resolution and prevention.
