This working paper examines the similarities and differences between Danish and British skepticism towards the European Union. The author looks at problems involved with defining and measuring the phenomenon of popular euroscepticism and analyzes specific anti-EU characteristics in both countries. The paper concludes that while both Denmark and the UK tend to favor public referenda to decide key EU issues, the actual nature and structure of euroscepticism still differs substantially in both countries.
