This article analyzes the July 2013 diplomatic crisis over fishing rights and environmental protection between Spain and the United Kingdom in Gibraltar. It examines the validity of some of the Spanish measures taken during the dispute and considers them light of the strategic options open to Spain in its dispute over Gibraltar.
