This paper looks at Russia's interests in Afghanistan and Pakistan after 2014. It is based on a series of meetings with Russian experts as well as discussions at the international “Complex Issues in the NATO-Russia Relations" conference. Some of the topics explored are: what a post 2014 Afghan government may look like, what the security threats to Russia are, and the role of other regional powers. The authors offer some overall conclusions to finish the paper.
