This bulletin examines China's anti-drug policies in the illicit opium-producing area between Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, known as the Golden Triangle. The author argues that it is in China's interests to continue its campaign and that the developmental assistance it offers for rural farmers in Laos and Myanmar demonstrates a determination to promote social stability and economic development. He concludes that, although progress is being made, China cannot finish the job alone.
