This paper considers whether President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s agenda for ‘political empowerment and reconciliation’ in Sri Lanka can coexist with the Tamil National Alliance’s (TNA) insistence on political parity. It ultimately concludes that the signs are positive -- i.e., both agendas seem to be in sync with each other, especially when it comes to supporting the dual concept of a unified country and people.
