This article looks at the prospective development of the transatlantic partnership between the United States and its NATO allies. The author notes that clear signals are being sent by Washington to its NATO allies to take on a greater share of alliance burdens, generate more capabilities and resources, and move away from a culture of dependency. In concluding, she argues that Europe must approach transatlantic relations with a new maturity, one that reflects the new culture that is forming within the transatlantic partnership.
