This paper examines Russian efforts to recapture its clout in the Middle East. The author explains that international criticism regarding Moscow’s mediation role in the Syria crisis as well as the toppling of the 'old order' across the Arab world have all adversely affected Russia's impact in the region. He concludes by offering a 'new Russian approach' as a way for the country to regain its former influence.
