High levels of communal violence and instances of ethnic cleansing have complicated recent attempts to analyze the post-war ethnic diversity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The purpose if this paper is to fill in this gap, and thereby improve our understanding of the socio-political causes and consequences of social division, as well as provide insights into how to overcome them.
