This bulletin examines the Social Democrat's (SPD) demand to raise income taxes on top earners in Germany and the impact this would have on the rest of Europe. The author argues that increasing income tax, even marginally, could bring a large amount of revenue into Germany's budget. This money could then be used to increase spending in both in Germany and in Europe which would boost the European economy.
