This brief examines developments in the India-Pakistan relationship and the attempts to reduce tensions and promote cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment and travel. The author argues that while the fundamental differences between the two countries render true peace unlikely in the near future, reducing cross-border violence and expanding trade, transit and investment may be possible.
