This note looks at the issues surrounding the planned withdrawal of all UK forces from Germany by 2020. These include 1) the reasons for the withdrawal, 2) the timescale of the withdrawl, 3) which bases will be closed, 4) financial settlements with the German government, and 5) the locations where returning troops will be stationed in the UK.
