This report examines the growing political activism of women in Egypt, Yemen and Tunisia. Unfortunately, their growing involvement in public affairs has also been accompanied by greater risks to their personal safety, and by a backlash against women’s rights. To counteract these problems, the report highlights five steps that should be taken to protect the participation of women in the public and security spheres.
