This brief examines the common priorities and security strategies of Poland and Romania in order to see how the partnership between the two can move ahead. The authors argue that the Polish–Romanian Strategic Partnership signed in 2009 offers the two the opportunity to reinforce cooperation between them in terms of forming common positions on the major political and economic debates at the European level. This would then enable the two to push for a more flexible form of European integration, open the EU up toward their Eastern neighbors, and improve European security.
