This brief proposes how governments can improve their policymaking processes to enhance the implementation of climate change mitigation action. The authors first provide an overview of the current institutional arrangements for generating, exchanging and reviewing information on mitigation commitments. They then describe the newly recommended features which should result in social pressure and make nationally-determined mitigation contributions more ambitious.
