This bulletin discusses the November 2013 nuclear talks between Iran and P5+1 (United States, Russia, China, United Kingdom, France and Germany) in Geneva. The author argues that even though these talks were an important step towards a solution of the issue, the demilitarization of Iran’s nuclear program continues to pose problems of a political and technical nature. He concludes that it remains to be seen how serious Iran is about changes in its nuclear policy and that success or failure of the talks might have an important impact on the Middle East, as well as on global security more broadly.
