This brief focuses on the euro crisis and how it threatens the EU single market. The author proposes three possible future scenarios and explains how each of them would adversely affect the single market and harm cross-border business activity within the EU. He concludes that any one of the scenarios may lead to a loss of EU influence in global trade negotiations and institutions like the IMF and G20.
