This paper addresses the political, social and economic challenges the US faces in the 21st century. The author points out that the US, in spite of predictions regarding its decline, still has considerable assets and demographic advantages over many other countries. According to him, the central question for the US will be whether its political system can regain its former capacity to mobilize the country’s resources and energies.
