This paper examines the implications of the conflict between China and Japan over the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands. In particular, it looks at China’s strategy towards Japan in the dispute; whether China has become a maritime power; the role of the US in the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands dispute; and the way in which the dispute affects Taiwan-China relations.
