This report looks at the impact of rapid urbanization on environmental and human security. Rather than the rural poor, the author argues it is the collective behavior of billions of urbanites who are responsible for rising global demand for natural resources and environmental degradation. He concludes by suggesting a model that would aim to reduce the urban ecological footprint while at the same time improving the quality of life for all inhabitants.
