This comment examines the destabilizing nature of Sweden's security and defense policy. Although generally viewed as contributing positively to environmental, societal and trade cooperation in the Baltic region, the author argues that in order to continue to play a positive role in regional security, Sweden must ensure that its stated security policy and its military capabilities are aligned. He concludes with a set of recommendations for Swedish and Finnish policy-makers.
