This issue addresses the meaning of gender and its relation to international law. The authors discuss female suffrage, reservations to the CEDAW, state obligations to address violence against women, the legality of male circumcision in Europe and the position of same-sex parents under the European Convention of Human Rights. The issue also includes an Interview on the challenges of battling human trafficking and slavery.
