This paper examines the various water sector coordination initiatives that exist in Central Asia and considers their main achievements and shortcomings. The authors begin with a description of Central Asia’s water sector and its main challenges and then go on to discuss international policies related to the region’s water management. In terms of these policies, they especially focus on EU-initiated coordination of water-related projects and programs.
