This brief discusses how foreign funding for NGOs in Egypt is in danger of being restricted by a new draft law on NGOs presented in the country's parliament in September 2013. The authors examine the problem which Egypt has with foreign funding to its NGOs, the influence which the state has on civil-society, and examine the changes which the new draft law proposes in more detail. The paper concludes with a recommendation that the EU and Poland should constantly monitor the status of the new draft NGO law and actively encourage the authorities to comply with international standards.
